Informative links and advice on pandemic-related loss of income:

We recommend that all artists document their loss of income due to the pandemic, as described by the union ver.di and the Association of German Writers:

It should also be noted that any loss of income should be reported immediately to the KSK, the artists’ social security fund. Monthly contribution payments will then be lowered. Download form here:

The German Orchestra Association has collected information on how to deal with the loss of fees and compensation payments under the German Protection Against Infection Act (IfSG) here:

Unfortunately not very pleasant, but in some cases important information from a legal perspective on situational cancellations of artistic events:

A liquidity fund has been set up by the Berlin Senate for business areas hit hard by the pandemic, such as clubs and hotels. But as Neues Deutschland notes: “It is unclear what help can be given to employees of public institutions and artists whose events have now also been cancelled.

Press and professional public:

Last week the Deutsche Kulturrat called for an emergency fund for artists to be administered jointly by the Cultural Foundation of the German Federal States and the Federal Cultural Foundation. This and the latest press releases on the agreement between the states and the Federal Government can be found here:
https://www.kulturrat.de/presse/pressemitteilung/nothilfe-fuer-den-kulturbereich-bundesregierung-startet-erste-hilfsmassnahmen-wegen-coronavirus/

Petra Kohse comments on this today in the Berliner Zeitung:

On the weekend, the topic was taken up by the Cultural Minister Conference of the Federal States. In this press release from 13.3.20, the Federal Cultural Minister Monika Grütters states: “Cultural and creative industries must be given massive support.” Unfortunately a concrete plan for this is yet pending.
