We are delighted to welcome our Japanese guest, Professor Yasuto Yura, to FIXTURES #7 – Jour Fixe at the Media Workshop in September. He will present his artistic work, his project VIDEO PARTY and show us some interesting videos by other Japanese artists and himself.

Tomorrow, on May 22, 2025, Sarah Wedl-Wilson will be officially appointed to the position of Senator for Culture. Her place will be taken by the former district councillor Cerstin Richter-Kotowski (CDU) from Steglitz-Zehlendorf.

The Professional Association of Visual Artists Berlin represents the interests of artists in Berlin; the association currently organizes more than 3,000 artists of all visual disciplines and artistic tendencies. We are committed to the promotion of all infrastructures for fine artists. Together with its non-profit subsidiaries, kulturwerk and bildungswerk, the bbk berlin itself also organises structural support. Subsidized by the State of Berlin and the EU, the organisations make workshops and studios available for artistic work, supervise projects for art in urban space, and offer educational opportunities for artists.

The purpose of the kulturwerk is to create positive framework conditions for artistic production. The kulturwerk's services are available to all professional fine artists in Berlin, so that they can work independently of constraints to conformity and commercialization and with no restrictions on their artistic freedom.

The bildungswerk of the bbk berlin is a non-profit subsidiary of the professional association of visual artists in Berlin (bbk berlin), providing a comprehensive professionalization programme for visual artists in Berlin. The professional field of visual arts is constantly changing, so that specialist knowledge and cultural techniques need to be updated, and further training is constantly necessary.
