#KulturBrauchtRaum — for the preservation of subsidized work and rehearsal spaces!

Dear artists of all disciplines, The current cuts by the Berlin Senate are acutely threatening some of the city´s subsidized work and rehearsal spaces, and the continued existence of many more is at risk. The Senate's next double budget (2026/2027) will bring further cuts. Artistic workspaces that have only just been saved will then be up for debate again. This affects all subsidized studios and rehearsal rooms for the visual and performing arts and music. 

However, subsidized workspaces are a prerequisite for the work of creative artists in this city. If subsidized spaces are given up by the Senate, they will most likely be lost forever for the unfortunately mostly low-income cultural workers who still make this city so special today. Due to price developments on the Berlin real estate market, spaces without funding are simply not affordable for many people who keep the cultural sector running.

It is therefore important to draw attention to this acute threat to our work spaces!

Let's fight together for our right to live and work in the inner city of Berlin!

In protest against this creeping displacement, we will temporarily work in the street.

We invite you to work, rehearse, make music, write, paint, draw or sculpt with us in front of the Senate Department of Culture of Berlin.

Together we are strong!

Bring everything that you usually do in your workshops and studios; a rehearsal, your easel, an instrument, your desk or your workshop... 

The action is planned on the sidewalk in front of Weinbergspark in Brunnenstraße, diagonally opposite the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
