For the second FIXTURES event on February, 24, 2025 Rachel Dagnall & Thorbjørn Reuter Christiansen are our guests. They will present a selection of video and sound recordings from the archive of the Danish FLUXUS artist and composer Henning Christiansen (1932-2008) that have just been digitized since beginning of February in the Media Workshop.

With the start of the new year 2025, we are glad to launch the FIXTURES event series in the Media Lab of the Medienwerkstatt. For the first event on January, 27th, we have invited the Portuguese artist and researcher Sérgio Taborda.

„Media and Music Talks“ | Rumours of Noise

This time, the focus is on an in-depth exploration of the topic of “drone” and its precursors, away from the musical mainstream. An excursion into the musical stylistic device known since the second half of the 1960s as “free form freak-out” leads to more contemporary variations of noise and drone, such as drone doom and female voice noise.

The sculpture workshop takes part in the Open Monument Day.

The professional journal kunststadt/stadtkunst is published annually by the Office for Art in Public Space (Büro für Kunst im öffentlichen Raum im kulturwerk des bbk berlin). It provides information on the latest developments in art in public spaces in Berlin and ensures transparency with regard to state commissions for art in public spaces in the state of Berlin and its districts.

The first event in the “Rumors of Noise” series took place on 15.08.2024 in the Medienlabor/Kesselhaus of the Medienwerkstatt. Frauke Boggasch and Manfred Miersch hosted the pilot event as the start of a new lecture series. In loose succession, such lecture events as part of Media and Music Talks will invite people to listen to (loud) music together in a real space, which is thus temporarily

6 to 9 pm Podium discussion with three artists originally from Eastern Europe who will talk about post-socialist aesthetics, problems of centre and periphery, decolonization, and nationalism in relation to their artistic practices within the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The event will be held in English at the Mediathek, Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum.
